What age do you have to be to home school yourself?

I’m 14 and in 8th grade, and go to school in Illinois. My mom doesn’t have time to home school me, and i don’t know if I’m at a legal age to home school myself on my own.

I also need to know the information & legalities of being home schooled. if you know please help me out.

I’m pretty sure that no one can home school themself. How can you teach yourself anything that you don’t know? How can you create a test the answers to which you don’t know? What would be the difference between that and not attending school?

Illinois has no home school laws, so you are pretty free to home school on your own but your mom must agree to remove you from your current school before you can home school. She does not have to actually teach you if you can learn on your own, but she should supervise your education by keeping a record of what you are doing.
You must cover all the basic subjects, but you don’t have to take any tests.

I am in homeschooling myself. I started in 9th grade and I home-school myself mostly.Homeschooling yourself is called “independent studies”.I’m pretty sure this is what you are looking for and you need to be in high school. When you look for info, make sure you specify “independent studies” not home-school.
