Is there any way to earn a HS diploma instead of a GED at a home school?

lukkymax asked:

If you already completed the required courses for a diploma stated by your district at a regular school, but took home school your last year in high school, can you get a diploma instead of a GED?

Of course. When you are homeschooled, your parents are the administrators - therefore, they can issue you a completely legitimate diploma.

Yes, but not usually from the public school. Your parents would issue the diploma.

Why would you get a GED?

A diploma is a piece of paper that decoratively states you completed a program. Your parents and/or homeschool association, homeschool support group, curriculum supplier can issue it.

What matters most, though, is not that diploma, but rather your transcript and SAT/ACT scores.

None of hte homeschoolers that I know have gotten a GED-they all have a diploma to show their completion of home schooling, and to get into college.

The public school is not going to give you a diploma, though, if you did not complete our education through the public school system.

Yes. Your parents issue you the diploma.

List on your job applications and college applications that you graduated and have a diploma from ______________.
Fill in the name of your homeschool.
