I want to know if home schooling is the right choice for me?

How do you start home schooling? what do you need to start? does it cost money? whats it like? I don’t know if i want home schooling or take the equivalency exam to leave high school.

home schooling is almost always the wrong choice.it normally leaves the child undereducated with a very narrow world view. But it is your parents decision not yours to home school you. Besides do not be in such a rush to leave school, it really is the best time in your entire life.At no time again will you have the breath and scope of experiences that you get in high school. get your diploma and go on to college or be a low paid person the rest of your life.
All of my sister children were home schooled ,they are all unemployable. there education while sanctioned by the state was woefully light in most areas. they could not get decent SAT scores. there lives are runied.

first of all you need to know the laws of your state. it does cost money because you need to pay for all of your books and tests. I actually liked it because I could finish all my books as fast as I wanted. I didn’t like it because my parents decided not to be part of a lot of programs which left me without a social life for many, many years. however… it doesn’t need to be that way. there are lots of programs and co-ops (parents and children getting together to co-teach lessons) and even sports that you can participate in. it is up to your parents… you can’t just leave school and start homeschooling. and even though you’re homeschooled you can still go to college. for some more info go to

Well, I started homeschooling 1 1/2 years ago and I have to say it has it’s highs and lows. It really all depends on the person, for e. g. I like to talk ALL the time with my friends, I LOVE sports, and want a GOOD education. Homeschooling can provide these things if you get involved in co-ops and stuff like that, my parrents don’t have the time. Don’t get me wrong, I socialize at church, and I’m there just about everyday but at home during the day gets BORING!!!!!!!!! To start homeschooling ya need a good curiculum, I suggest Abeka..but you can mix and match. You have to inform tha state and see the qualifications…. make sure you take the ACT evey year to see where you are in your learning. In Louisiana you can make 2 points above the average of the public school ACT scores and you can get a T.O.P.S. B/c in homeschooling you can’t really prove that you did all your work. It does cost money but it can be cheap and it can be expensive, depends on curiculum. You must be SELF-MOTIVATED b/c you will have the tendency to skip stuff and you musn’t do that! Also, make sure you take your G.E.D. as soon as your finished with schooling…don’t wait! In our family we double up in the 11th and 12th grade years and finish a year early. In those last years you can go to a community college for prep classes before you start your main college for half the price.
